Cluster Headaches and Their Impact on Face
Pain Cluster headaches are one of the most painful types of headaches and can cause excruciating face pain. These headaches occur in cycles or clusters, often striking suddenly and affecting one side of the face. The pain typically centers around the eye but can radiate to the cheeks, jaw, and forehead. People experiencing cluster headaches may also notice redness, tearing, or swelling on the affected side of the face. Treating cluster headaches often requires specialized medications or therapies. Fast-acting treatments like oxygen therapy or triptans can provide relief during an attack. Preventative measures, such as avoiding triggers like alcohol or stress and using prescribed medications and/or physical medicine(physical therapy, chiropractic), can help reduce the frequency of cluster headaches and the associated face pain.
