Why You Have Two Jaw Joints Instead of One
Humans have a jaw joint on the left side and another on the right side. They are connected by the lower jaw bone, which is one solid piece. When one side moves, the other side has to move too.
This setup lets you move your jaw in many directions. You can open straight down, push the jaw forward, or slide it left and right. Side-to-side movement helps grind food when you chew.
If you only had one joint, the jaw would not be able to do all these different motions as easily. Having two joints working together gives better control and power.
The pair of joints acts like a balanced system. That balance is what makes chewing and talking feel natural.
